Ogie Diaz on his dismissal from Umagang Kay Ganda: Best recognized for bringing scandalous showbiz news in all forms of media, veteran entertainment writer/reporter Ogie Diaz made it to the headlines last October 2008 when he got ax from Umagang Kay Ganda. The exact reasons for his release were never disclosed to the public save for the fact that he supposedly debased several prohibitions in the Code of Ethics of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs. His removal from the show was effective directly so he didn't have time to bid audiences goodbye. There were rumor that the real reason Ogie was fired was because Sharon Cuneta had him axed after he air the news about her and husband Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan's believed separation, something which Ogie denied at the time.

CONCERT
Usher: Live in Manila!
July 9, 8 p.m.
SM Mall of Asia Grounds, SM Mall of Asia Complex,
Bay City, Pasay City

Raymund Usher welcomed by thousand of fans in the airport. He is excited for the concert in manila.

If fans are to believe the rumor mill, Usher was said to have beaten music superstar Justin Timberlake in a boxing match to win the right to sign up 16-year-old YouTube sens-ation-turned-pop idol Justin Bieber under his record label.
Despite claiming the contrary, talk is rife that the friendship between Usher and Mr. Timberlake was never the same again after the battle over Mr. Bieber.
Usher’s seeming preoccupation with artists other than himself might be the reason behind his worries over his career, which, as he said in a recent interview, "hasn’t returned to the stratospheric heights" that he once reached after releasing his best-selling Confessions album in 2004. (Confessions sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, and was named the best-selling R&B album of the 2000 decade.)
Usher hoped to bounce back with his latest album Raymond v. Raymond, which was released in March. Four months later, Usher seems to be on his way back to the top. The album reached #1 in Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States where it sold an impressive 329,107 copies in its first week of release.
As part of his Asian tour to promote Raymond v. Raymond, Usher will be in Manila for a one-night concert tonight (June 9) at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds in Pasay City.
Fresh from his sold-out performances in Seoul, South Korea last Sunday, and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last Wednesday, Usher hopes to attract a huge crowd in Manila as well as he perform his early hits like "U Remind Me," "U Got it Bad," "Yeah!" and "Burn," among others.
The singer is also expected to perform cuts from his latest album, like "Papers," "Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Not Home)," and "OMG," among others.
After the concert tonight, Usher will head to China for a concert this Sunday at the Wukesong Arena in Beijing.
Born Usher Raymond IV on Oct. 14, 1978 at Dallas, Texas, Usher rose to fame after releasing his multi-pla-tinum albums My Way in 1997, 8701 in 2001, Confessions in 2004 and Here I Stand in 2008.
Usher is both a commercial and critical success. He is ranked as one of the best-selling artists in American music history, having sold 22 million copies in the US alone. Worldwide including the US, Usher has sold 45 million albums to date.

Usher has won five Grammy Awards, including his back-to-back victories as Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2001 and 2002, as well as three trophies in 2005 after winning Best Contemporary R&B Album (for Confessions), Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo (for "My Boo" with Alicia Keys), and Best Rap Collaboration (for the song "Yeah" which he recorded with Ludacris and Lil Jon.)
Concert organizers Fearless Productions and cable TV network Channel V said Usher brings with him a spectacular production that boasts of breathtaking display of lights and sounds backed by a phenomenal band setup, and excellently choreographed performances by his dancers.
And who knows? Usher might just surprise everybody and arrive in Manila together with Mr. Bieber.
